Elegir los nominados a los Oscars parece ser una labor bastante complicada. Tras revelar los contendientes de cada una de las categorías de la premiación, volvieron a lloverle críticas a la Academia (aunque, en esta ocasión, quizás un poco menos) por no haber nominado a equis película o actor en alguna categoría.
Al final del día, no son tantas las cintas que pueden competir en la premiación final y es normal que mucho salga por fuera. Otra cosa que es normal desde hace algunos años es que nosotros saquemos una lista de lo mejor que se quedó por fuera en los premios más importantes de la industria cinematográfica. Por esto, les damos un recorrido por películas, actores, guionistas y directores que fueron ignorados por la Academia o, simplemente, no hubo espacios para nominarlos.
Está el caso de James Franco, ganador del Golden Globe por su papel en The Disaster Artist y uno de los que le podía haber discutido el premio a Gary Oldman, que no fue nominado por sus acusaciones de presunto abuso sexual, surgidas luego de que cerraran las votaciones a los Oscars. O The Florida Project, una de las favoritas de la crítica, que solo logró nominación a Mejor Actor de Reparto para el gran Willem Dafoe. La sorpresiva exclusión de Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Steven Spielberg (The Post) y Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name) -los dos primeros nominados al Golden Globe- de la categoría de Mejor Director, de los lunares de la selección de la Academia, que sorprendió dejando por fuera a la cinta BPM (Beats Per Minute), otra de las consentidas por la crítica desde su proyección en Cannes del pasado año, de la pugna a Mejor Película de Lengua Extranjera.
Está claro el nivel de competitividad en todas las categorías cuando nombres así de importantes se quedan por fuera, pero hoy les hacemos justicia y los recordamos.
